Toolbox

Below is a collection of the various extensions and applications I’m currently using to work and play with.

h3. “IETab View”:http://ietab.mozdev.org/

This is by far the most useful tool that I’ve found recently. I was using the IE View extension for Firefox before but this extension lets you switch between IE and Mozilla’s rendering engine right inside of Firefox.

h3. “Web Developer
Toolbar”:http://chrispederick.com/work/webdeveloper/

This is a pretty well known extension for Firefox, but I thought I would list it just in case there was anyone there that wasn’t familiar with it.

h3. “HTML Validator”:http://users.skynet.be/mgueury/mozilla/

I’ve always thought it best to validate early on in the process, this extension gives me a little icon at the bottom of Firefox with validation status, very handy in tackling problems early on.

h3. “Vienna”:http://www.opencommunity.co.uk/vienna2.html

I’ve been looking for an open source RSS reader on the Mac for awhile now and I think I’ve finally found what I’m looking for in Vienna. Some of my favorite features of this reader are “Smart” folders, Flagged articles, Group inboxes, and the import/export feature, plus Vienna is a cocoa based application so that’s always nice. Definetly check it out if you’re on a Mac and don’t want to shell out cash for a news reader.

h3. “Stand”:http://hetima.com/safari/stand-e.html

The latest version of Saft for Safari is really nice, the first version that I’ve actually been using since it came out. Right now I’m really digging the sidebar and skinning features that it has. Hopefully more features will get rolled into the sidebar in future releases.

h3. “FontExplorer X”:http://www.linotype.com/fontexplorerX

FontExplorer X is a really nice free font manager for Mac. I haven’t been using this app for very long but so far it’s been really nice.

I’ll be expanding this list as I pick up more tools that I find useful as well.

Stats Packages

Measure Map

I’m currently using Measure Map which seems not to be working all that correctly at the moment. I’ll be going back and forth with one of the guys over at Adaptive Path to get it straightened out, once I have it up and running, I’ll release an installation tutorial.

Anemone

Also, some “people”:http://forum.textdrive.com/viewtopic.php?id=5932 in the Textpattern community have started a project called “Anemone” to provide a stats package for Textpattern users. Definetly looks interesting, hopefully we’ll have a release soon.

Reinvigorate

Still waiting for these “guys”:http://www.reinvigorate.net to get back up and running again, this was a great service when it was running.

Mint

Shaun Inman’s “Mint”:http://www.haveamint.com is definetly a great little stats package, it’s definetly worth the $30. I have it up and running on another site and have been pretty happy with the results. “PepperMint Tea”:http://massiveblue.net/pepperminttea/, the Mint plugin blog is a nice reference as well if you will be using this package.
