There are some significant events happening in South Florida this month namely the Future of Web Apps conference and Barcamp Miami. It’s been fun to see how far along this area has come along in the past couple of years. FOWA is in my opinion the first well respected web conference to hit this area and it says alot about the potential Miami and the surrounding areas have. I’ve stated all along that there is alot going on in this area in terms of design and technology, the main hurdle has always been the many disconnections that existed. If you’re in the area I would highly encourage you to make it out to one of the events.

We are planning to relocate to Tampa by mid-May. Any thoughts on Tampa? My in-laws are there, so that’s the primary reason for picking it over other cities in FL. I’ve heard some good things from others, but would love to hear your take. Cheers! Brandon
I totally agree, Nick. It’s really refreshing to see Miami as a gathering place for some of the top web professionals in the country.
@brandon Unfortunately I have a somewhat negative view of the Tampa St. Petersburg area
based on my experiences there, but it’s been awhile since I’ve visited and things could be different. I’m not sure what you’re looking for in the area you choose to move to, but there are alot of factors. Orlando is affordable and a good place to live, if work and activity is important then South Florida is going to be the best option.
